Advent in Opatija
The most magical time of the year is just around the corner. The streets are beautifully decorated with colourful lights and wonderful Christmas trees, filling our hearts with peace and joy. The Advent season is really very special in Opatija. To all its visitors the town offers various culinary specialities, mulled wine and traditional Christmas cakes. Opatija is the perfect place to celebrate Christmas and the New Year right by the sea. The season of Advent in Opatija is a time of expectant waiting and preparations for the celebration of Christmas. Every Sunday in Advent, one candle on the Advent wreath is lit. On the Opatija Riviera children traditionally decorate the house with sage, ivy or fir boughs. The most beautiful symbol of Christmas is definitely the Christmas tree with presents for the dearest ones. We wish you a peaceful and blessed Advent in Opatija!

Hum – the smallest town in the world
Hum is a town in the central part of Istria, 7 km from Roč, 14 km southeast of Buzet on a hill above the Mirna
valley.
This small fortified habitation has maintained all the features of medieval urban architecture and
organization. It has a population of only 17 people (2001 census), but is officially a town, and is the
Guinness World Record holder for the smallest town in the world. Hum is one of the rare preserved and
untouched examples of urban development inside medieval walls.
Hum is also the mecca of Croatian Glagolitism where you can see the first monuments and trace the very
beginnings of Croatian literacy, as well as get to know the old Croatian alphabet Glagoljica. The Aleja
glagoljaša (Glagolithic Avenue) is a series of 11 monuments dedicated to the Glagolitic script, placed along
the 4-mile route between Roč und Hum.

Astronomy Village in Istria
The most charming sight is around August 12, when the sky is assaulted by prolific meteor showers associated with the comet Swift-Tuttle. On August 10 and 11, and especially August 12, the Earth moves through a cloud of dust and steam and these particles collide with the Earth's atmosphere at a speed of 200,000 kilometres per hour, boiling off and unleashing a meteor shower in the sky. This event is known among astronomers as the Perseids, but it is commonly referred to as the tears of St. Lawrence since it appears exactly on St. Lawrence's Day.

5 Things To Do In Croatia
1. Walk the Walls of Dubrovnik:
The Walls of Dubrovnik (Croatian: Dubrovačke gradske zidine) are a series of defensive stone walls that have
surrounded and protected the citizens of the afterward proclaimed maritime city-state of Dubrovnik (Ragusa),
situated in southern Croatia, since the city's founding prior to the 7th century as a Byzantium castrum on a
rocky island named Laus (Ragusia or Lave).[Note 1][1] With numerous additions and modifications throughout
their history, they have been considered to be amongst the great fortification systems of the Middle Ages, as
they were never breached by a hostile army during this time period.[2] In 1979, the old city of Dubrovnik,
which includes a substantial portion of the old walls of Dubrovnik, joined the UNESCO list of World Heritage
Sites.

3. Explore Croatia's largest National Park, Plitvice Lakes: The beauty of Plitvice and its unsurpassable attractiveness are a result of gypsum and gypsum-depositing plants. Creation of gypsum and rearrangement of the river bed created a string of 16 Plitvice Lakes representing a magnificent natural architectural phenomenon, surrounded by thick forests inhabited by bears, wolves and many other rare animal and plant species.
4. Live it up in luxury on the Island of Hvar: You would like to spend perfect summer vacation relaxing but at the same time learning about the cultural heritage of destination in which you reside? Spend a sunsational week immersing in the untouched natural beauty and traditional culture of the island of Hvar.
5. Become a part of the festivities in the City of Rovinj: uring the summer months the festive atmosphere is contagious as there is always a play, concert, festival or party taking place. Croatia's largest outdoor art exhibit is held in Rovinj every summer.
